Additional Information
At Augustana, TE scholarships are renewable for up to eight (8) semesters, with the length of award time dependent on the recipient?s class standing at entrance. A semester is fall or spring, but not summer. Transfer students and students with advanced credits will be eligible for a TE scholarship for the length of time it takes to graduate which may be fewer than eight (8) semesters. To remain eligible for renewed scholarship awards, recipients must maintain a Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, must have a parent who maintains TE employment eligibility, and must indicate continued interest by contacting Augustana?s TE Liaison Officer every year.

TE recipients who attend other schools (exports) must submit academic transcripts to the Augustana Liaison Officer at the end of each spring semester so re-certification can occur.

Please note that Tuition Exchange scholarships do not apply to graduate programs, those who are non-degree seeking, or second undergraduate degree seeking students (i.e. accelerated nursing).

This is a tremendous opportunity for participating families, but it is important to know this is not a guaranteed benefit.

The maximum scholarship award for new or continuing students who are approved for Tuition Exchange Scholarships at Augustana is the value of full-time tuition for a regular academic year. Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Tuition overload and all other fees or charges are not included.

Tuition Exchange Scholarship recipients are required to live in on-campus housing with a qualified University meal plan for their first (freshman) and second (sophomore) years. Students electing to live off campus and/or fail to sign up for a qualified meal plan will forfeit their Tuition Exchange Scholarship and revert back to instituional scholarship(s).

Qualified applicants must be first-time, first-year freshmen, transfer students, or currently enrolled students as defined by Augustana University. Graduate students, non-degree seeking students, visiting students and students seeking a second undergraduate degree are not eligible for Augustana TE scholarships. TE scholarship funds can be used for the Fall and Spring semesters, plus Interim, but not Summer courses.

Augustana uses the online application from the home institution to certify a student?s eligibility for TE funds. It must be submitted to Augustana University from the exporting school through the TE school portal.

Freshman and Transfer applicants - To receive primary consideration as a TE scholarship recipient, the student must have applied to Augustana and the exporting institution must submit a TE eligibility notification by December 1. We suggest that applicants apply as soon as possible each year for the next academic year. Students who are currently enrolled at Augustana, and become certified by a member institution, must notify the Liaison Officer as soon as possible prior to December 1 in order to be considered for any TE scholarship funds that may become available.

In order of relevance, awards for imports will be determined based on the following criteria: 1) Receipt of a completed application by December 1 and 2) Competitiveness of academic record and overall application.

Augustana will notify the student in writing via email/letter that his or her application has been accepted, wait-listed, or rejected by December 15 or as soon as possible.

By May 1, scholarship recipients should notify Augustana?s Tuition Exchange Liaison in writing of their acceptance (or rejection) of the TE Scholarship.

Scholarship recipients should contact the Liaison Officer in the Fall of each year to re-certify (renew) their Tuition Exchange eligibility.

Applicants who are not selected as TE recipients will be placed on a waiting list based on selection criteria. In the event that awarded scholarships are not utilized, the unused scholarships may be awarded to applicants on the waiting list.

Tuition Exchange scholarships are considered financial aid and will be included in any financial aid package provided by Augustana University.

If a student takes a medical leave, his or her TE scholarship will remain available for the subsequent year. If not reinstated during that year, he or she will have the opportunity to reapply for the scholarship when he or she re-enrolls. If a TE recipient takes a leave of absence, withdraws from school, studies abroad at a non-Augustana approved program, or graduates, the student must notify the TE Liaison Officers at both Augustana University and the host institution immediately.

Augustana University reserves the right to modify its Tuition Exchange import guidelines as it deems appropriate to meet program objectives.

Each student selected will be required to apply for federal aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The University will apply outside funds which the student receives in federal, state or private sources, up to 25 percent of the cost of tuition, thereby reducing the tuition assistance by that amount. Outside funding in excess of 25 percent may be applied to room, board, and books before the remainder is applied to the tuition balance.

A student attending under the TE program will receive no other Augustana financial assistance. There will be no institutional credit for students who during the visit process come from a long distance.

TE scholarships do not apply to study abroad programs. TE students will not be eligible for the Distinguished Scholars study abroad stipend.

No matter what you’re interested in studying, there’s a school on the list for you.
