Located in Ohio's Western Reserve, Hiram College continues today as one of the nation's most respected institutions of liberal arts and sciences. Hiram has an enrollment of approximately 1100 students from throughout the United States and 24 foreign countries.
Hiram's academic calendar, known as the Hiram Plan, is unique to the nation and combines the advantages of long-term and short-term learning. During each modified semester, Hiram students take three courses during a 12-week session before being immersed in an intensive 3-week session, during which students take just one course. During the 3-week session, Hiram students are able to take advantage of the many hands-on learning opportunities at Hiram that includes internships, in-depth research with a faculty mentor, field trips, or study abroad. More than 50% of Hiram students participate in one of the oldest and most extensive study-abroad programs in the country. Eight trips are typically offered each year and are all led by one to three master teachers on the Hiram faculty.
Hiram is recognized as a Baccalaureate-Liberal Arts institution by the respected Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and is one of 13% of colleges and universities to be awarded a chapter of the prestigious honor society of Phi Beta Kappa. Hiram is a NCAA Division III institution with 19 intercollegiate sports and competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
