Home of the Lakers, Mercyhurst supports 25 varsity men's and women's athletic teams. Over 20 percent of the student body participates in some kind of Laker sport at the College's Saxon Stadium, the Mercyhurst Ice Center and the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The University competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level in Men's and Women's Ice Hockey. All other teams compete in the NCAA's Division II. Mercyhurst also participates in a number of athletic conferences. The affiliations include the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the Midwest Intercollegeiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) and the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conferences' (MAAC) Hockey League.

Mercyhurst is on a rolling admissions cycle. Tuition Exchange applications are due by the end of December and notifications will begin at the end of February.
