Additional Information
The University of the South (popularly known as "Sewanee") awards Tuition Exchange scholarships on a competitive basis. The Sewanee education is characterized by serious intellectual pursuit, collaborative learning, community outreach, and spiritual growth, all amid an unparalleled outdoor setting that inspires reflection and academic growth.

The University sits atop the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Sewanee's 13,000 acre campus, the second largest in the country, features forests, meadows, lakes, caves, more than 50 miles of trails, and 15 miles of rock outcroppings.

Sewanee is in the heart of the Southeast, with easy access to Chattanooga (35 miles away), Nashville (93 miles), Atlanta (160 miles), Knoxville (160 miles), and Birmingham (175 miles).

The 100 year old Honor System at Sewanee comprises the Honor Code, the Honor Pledge, and the Honor Council, which administers and maintains the System. Students at the University embrace the concept of honor both in the classroom and in their lives, making the Honor System one of Sewanee's most esteemed traditions.

More than 95 percent of Sewanee undergraduates live on campus in eight coed dorms, four all-male dorms, five all-female dorms, a women's center, four language houses, and two special halls for student emergency personnel (EMTs and firefighters).
