Additional Information
Wilkes University is a private, comprehensive institution with more than 2,400 undergraduate students located along the shore of the Susquehanna River, within walking distance of downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and within a few hours' drive from the biggest population centers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Since 1933, Wilkes has been preparing students for lifelong success. National rankings recognize our commitment to access and making a Wilkes education as affordable as possible, while highlighting our ongoing return on investment for graduates. Wilkes offers the programs, activities and opportunities of a large university in the close mentoring environment of a small college. Faculty members work side by side with students in pursuit of solutions to the most pressing questions of our day.

The University is structured into the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; the College of Science and Engineering; the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy; the Passan School of Nursing; the Sidhu School of Business and Leadership; the School of Education; and University College (for undecided students).

Wilkes offers a broad range of bachelor's and master's degree programs in the humanities, social and natural sciences, business, nursing, and education as well as the Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Hands-on learning, small classes, and strong student-professor relationships are the hallmarks of the Wilkes experience. Programs are designed to prepare students with a well-rounded liberal arts foundation that cultivates independent thinking and gives students the credentials necessary for entrance into graduate and professional schools and professional life. Academic advising integrated with career planning is stressed.

At Wilkes University, student activities complement academic life. Intercollegiate athletics encompass 21 Division III sports, and an active and varied intramural program is offered. Over 70 clubs and organizations recognize student achievement and provide opportunities for leadership development, professional growth, and community service. The student-run Programming Board schedules movies and performances by comedians, musicians, and other entertainers, while other organizations sponsor dinner dances, block parties, and special events. Wilkes students are active community volunteers, participating in numerous local and national service projects each year.

Notification of 2023-2024 scholarships will begin on February 1, 2023. The Federal Pell grant and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) state grant, in addition to Wilkes University funds offered are deducted from the Tuition Exchange amount awarded.
