Tuition exchange Scholarships are awarded for bachelor's degrees. Students awarded tuition exchange must maintain academic integrity and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Graduate level coursework is not included in the Tuition Exchange program.
Tuition Exchange Imports FAQ
1. My child is interested in Newman University. What is the first step?
Tuition Exchanges (TE) are initiated by your employer/institution. Please check with your own TE liaison for deadlines and application processes.
2. Is there a deadline to apply for tuition exchange at Newman University?
No. You will just need to submit the application before classes start. We will review applications as they come in throughout the year.
3. How many semesters does the TE scholarship cover?
TE awards are based on class levels with an 8 semester maximum for entering freshmen. Sophomores would be awarded 6 semesters and juniors would be awarded 4 semesters to complete degrees. In the case of students graduating early, no additional TE funding is available.
4. Can I attend summer school at Newman University and use my TE award?
Yes, but keep in mind that the TE scholarships are t available for 8 semesters with the summer counting towards once semester.
5. Is there any other paperwork required of me?
NO. The only document required is the Certification of Eligibility submitted by your school's TE liaison.
6. Are graduate studies offered through Tuition Exchange?
NO. Newman University, as most schools in the TE program, participates at the undergraduate level only. Progressive master's degrees are also not covered.
7. Is there a minimum unit required to maintain the scholarship?
No. TE students can enroll as part-time students. Please be mindful that you will only receive a waiver for 8 semesters as a freshman so if you decide to use a waiver for one semester in which you took one class, that will count against your total semesters paid.
10. Is there a required grade point average (GPA)?
YES. A 2.0 cumulative GPA is required to renew your Tuition Exchange scholarship annually.
11. Do I need to apply every year for the scholarship?
NO. There is an annual re-certification process to verify eligibility, but the award is covered through graduation or a maximum number of semesters as discussed in Question 4 above, provided the other school re-certifies the student and the cumulative 3.0 GPA is met. Parents should stay in contact with their own TE liaison regarding the annual re-certification process.
12. What is the GPA requirement for acceptance for tuition exchange?
You will need a 2.0 GPA to attend Newman University.
13. What happens if my parent is no longer employed?
If classes have already started, tuition will be covered through that semester. Your waiver will stop once that semester is over. If classes have not started yet, you will not receive a tuition waiver for that upcoming semester.
14. Who can I talk to about applying to Newman?
The Newman admission office should be the point of contact. http://newmanu.edu/admissions/undergraduate. Tuition Exchange is a separate process handled once the admission process is complete.
15. I was offered another full scholarship; can I keep both?
All financial questions should be directed to the Newman's Financial Aid office.
16. Why doesn?t my TE award appear on my registration statement?
Once your registration is complete, your TE award will credit.
