Additional Information
Illinois Institute of Technology is one of the nation's top universities for science, engineering, architecture, design, communications, psychology, and business. Located just south of downtown Chicago and only one mile from Lake Michigan, IIT capitalizes on its location by providing students with unparalleled internship, cooperative education, and research experiences. With small classes and a personalized education, IIT gives students the look and feel of a small, focused college with the opportunities and experiences of a large, world-changing university. Students can take advantage of the many cultural opportunities available throughout the Chicagoland area, with two elevated train lines and numerous buses in and around Main Campus. IIT also offers many intercollegiate athletic opportunities along with over 100 student organizations and activities.

All undergraduates get involved in interdisciplinary research through Interprofessional Projects (IPROs). Students select a real-world project, often sponsored by outside corporations and research grants, and work with a team of faculty and fellow students from across IIT's numerous academic programs. Past IPROs have worked with Major League Baseball to develop better ways of measuring the distance of home runs, and with local governments in Latin America to develop water purification and medical technologies for underdeveloped countries.

Illinois Institute of Technology's Main Campus is on the National Register of Historic Places, recognized for its groundbreaking architecture. Many of the buildings were designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. That tradition continued when in the fall of 2003 IIT opened a new residence hall complex designed by Helmut Jahn, and a new campus center designed by Rem Koolhaus.

No matter what you’re interested in studying, there’s a school on the list for you.
